Gold-Plated Case | Calibre 269 | c. 1950s

There is something deeply satisfying about a well-made vintage watch that does exactly what it was designed to do; quietly, reliably, and with timeless elegance. This mid-century Omega is a perfect example of that philosophy.

Dating from the 1950s, this hand-wound Omega comes from a period when Omega was producing beautifully restrained dress watches alongside its more famous tool models. These were watches made for everyday life, worn by professionals, wound each morning, and relied upon without fuss.

At its heart is the Omega calibre 269, one of the brand’s most respected manual movements. Part of Omega’s renowned 26x movement family, the calibre 269 is celebrated for its robustness, mechanical simplicity, and long-term serviceability. It is a true workhorse movement, and precisely the kind of calibre that makes sense for someone entering the world of vintage watches, or for anyone seeking a dependable daily wearer with genuine mechanical substance.

The watch is housed in a slim gold-plated case, elegant without being overstated, with long, flowing lugs that sit beautifully on the wrist. At approximately 35mm, it wears larger than the number suggests and feels very well proportioned by modern standards. The stainless steel caseback is a practical and period-correct detail, adding durability for everyday use.

The original silver-toned dial has aged gracefully, developing a soft warmth and subtle patina that only time can create. Applied gold hour markers and classic dauphine hands catch the light beautifully, while the small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock adds balance and unmistakable vintage charm. This is an honest, untouched dial, full of character rather than artificially restored.

As with all watches we offer, this Omega has been fully mechanically tested and tuned, and is running strongly and in line with expectations for a watch of its age. Mechanical integrity is something we take seriously, which is why every watch we sell is assessed before listing and backed by our six-month mechanical warranty for additional peace of mind; full terms can be found in our company policies.

The watch has been fitted with a brand new, high-quality black leather strap, keeping the overall look classic and understated while ensuring it is ready to wear from day one.

This is not a watch that demands attention; instead, it rewards closer inspection. A refined and honest Omega that captures the essence of 1950s Swiss watchmaking, and one we would confidently recommend as an ideal first vintage watch or a dependable everyday companion.
