Vintage Omega Genève Manual Wind Dress Watch, Circa 1970s – Ref. Style 136 Series

Timeless Elegance from Omega's Classic Era

Presenting a beautifully preserved vintage Omega Genève, a quintessential dress watch from the early 1970s. The Genève line, launched in the 1950s, represented Omega's accessible yet sophisticated entry into luxury timepieces, blending Swiss precision with understated style. This example captures the refined aesthetic of the era, with its slim profile, warm champagne sunburst dial, and gold-plated case – perfect for the modern collector or gentleman seeking a versatile vintage piece.

Dial & Hands The stunning champagne sunburst dial shifts beautifully under light, creating a radiant golden glow that complements the gold-plated case. Applied baton indices and dauphine hands provide crisp legibility, while the date window at 3 o'clock features a clean magnified aperture. Signed "OMEGA" above the centre, "Genève" below, and "T SWISS MADE T" at 6 o'clock (indicating original tritium lume, now aged to a warm patina). The dial is in excellent vintage condition, free of major flaws, with only minimal signs of age that add to its authentic character.

Case & Crystal Measuring approximately 35mm in diameter (excluding crown), the case wears elegantly on most wrists and slides easily under a shirt cuff. Crafted from stainless steel with a substantial gold capping/plating , it features faceted lugs and a brushed sunburst dial finish that has been well-maintained. The solid stainless steel screw-down caseback shows honest wear scratches consistent with age, but the plating on the front and sides remains strong and lustrous. Original signed Omega crown operates smoothly. The domed acrylic crystal is in good condition, with light surface marks typical of a watch from this period.

Movement Powered by the reliable Omega Calibre 613 – a manual-wind movement with 17 jewels, known for its robustness and accuracy. This calibre is essentially the hand-wound sibling to the highly regarded automatic Cal. 565, offering a power reserve of approximately 48 hours when fully wound. It includes a convenient quickset date function (activated by pulling the crown and turning), making it surprisingly user-friendly for a vintage manual wind. The movement is in good running order, keeping solid time for its vintage status.
