Must de Cartier Vendôme (round case), ref. 590004

Some watches are simply well preserved. Others feel as though they have been quietly waiting in a drawer since the day they were purchased.

This 1985 Must de Cartier is firmly the latter.

Housed in its classic round vermeil case, the gold plating remains exceptionally crisp, with minimal signs of wear and strong definition throughout. Most remarkably, the original protective Cartier plastic remains intact on the caseback, still unpeeled by its first owner. It is a rare and rather charming detail that speaks volumes about how carefully this watch has been kept.

The dial is pure 1980s Cartier. A beautifully executed vertical stripe design in soft pastel tones sits beneath crisp black Roman numerals, paired with elegant blued steel hands. It is playful yet refined; unmistakably Cartier, yet subtly distinctive.

Inside beats the original Cartier quartz movement, correct for the reference and offering reliable daily performance.

Even better, the watch retains its original Cartier burgundy lizard-grain leather strap, an increasingly uncommon detail. The strap complements the warmth of the vermeil case perfectly and further reinforces the originality of the piece.

Condition overall is genuinely exceptional; a true time-warp example that has survived four decades with grace.

A superb choice for the collector seeking an untouched Must de Cartier, or for anyone wanting a vintage Cartier that feels as special as the day it left the boutique.
