This elegant vintage Longines is a wonderful example of mid-century Swiss watchmaking, combining refined design with the quiet confidence for which the brand is known.
The watch is housed in a solid 9ct yellow gold case measuring approximately 33mm. Thanks to its long, sculpted lugs, it wears larger on the wrist than the dimensions might suggest, giving it a balanced and very elegant presence.
The dial is particularly attractive and uncommon, featuring applied Arabic numerals at 12, 3 and 9, complemented by faceted arrowhead hour markers and a recessed small seconds subdial. The combination gives the watch a strong mid-century character while maintaining the restrained elegance expected from Longines.
Powering the watch is the excellent Longines calibre 232, a hand-wound Swiss movement produced during the 1950s and widely respected for its reliability and quality of finishing.
The caseback features a beautifully executed intaglio monogram engraving, adding a touch of personal history and character to the piece. The case itself remains in very well preserved condition and presents beautifully.
